Who We Are
Welcome to Pine Valley Pyrenees! We are Max and Cindy Barker, proud breeders of the majestic Great Pyrenees. We live in beautiful Southern Utah, where we’re lucky to have a stunning view of the Pine Valley Mountains to the north — the inspiration for our name, Pine Valley Pyrenees.
Our lives are deeply enriched by our family. We have seven sons (yes, seven!), six wonderful daughters-in-law, and fifteen incredible grandchildren. We feel very blessed that all of our sons and their families live nearby, allowing us to spend a lot of quality time together.
As a family, we cherish our time outdoors, whether it’s relaxing by the pool, playing pickleball, barbecuing, camping, or hiking in the scenic landscapes surrounding us. And, of course, we absolutely love dogs! With a last name like Barker, it seems like fate that dogs would be a huge part of our lives.
At Pine Valley Pyrenees, we are dedicated to breeding and raising healthy, well-tempered Great Pyrenees dogs that are perfect for families, farms, and as loyal companions. We look forward to sharing our love of these amazing dogs with you!
Our Breeding Experience
Our passion for dogs goes back over 30 years. We didn’t exactly start small — our first litter of German Shorthaired Pointers was born in 1994, and it was a whopping 13 puppies! We continued breeding German Shorthaired Pointers for 25 years, perfecting our breeding program until 2019.
In 2017, we were looking for a calm, family-friendly dog that would be great around our grandchildren. After extensive research, we found the perfect match in the Australian Labradoodle breed. We brought home our first Labradoodle, Penny, and had our first litter in 2019. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of blessing hundreds of families with our amazing Australian Labradoodle puppies, and we continue to breed these wonderful dogs today.
More recently, a friend of ours who needed a livestock guardian dog reached out to us. We began researching once again and discovered the remarkable Great Pyrenees breed. Known for their calm temperament, loyalty, and natural ability to guard livestock, we found them to be the perfect fit for both families and farms. We decided to expand our breeding program by adding the Great Pyrenees breed. In 2024, we welcomed our first Great Pyrenees puppy, and we are excited to embark on this new journey while continuing our successful Labradoodle program.
At Pine Valley Pyrenees, our goal is to breed healthy, well-tempered Great Pyrenees dogs that can serve as devoted family companions and outstanding livestock guardians.
